Visiting the Cousins

I had a delightful time visiting my Tennessee kin last week and grabbed a few shots when I could (when we weren’t watching little Emery…).

I’m relocating to Columbia, TN soon, and I have to say, I’m beyond excited about it. It’s like a light bulb turned on while I was there, and it felt like home–complete with cows.

My early childhood was spent in the upper Midwest, so it’ll be great to return to some soil that is actually made out of soil, rather than sand.

Evidently Miranda Lambert and Justin Timberlake won’t be too far away too. They say you run into a lot of really nice people in this part of the country.

I’m sure we’ll be best friends forever…

Anyway, I’ll keep up as much as I can. Must get packing though. I have to fit everything I own into my Corolla. I don’t think that will be terribly difficult, but my mom has a habit of sending me off with enough supplies to last several months, so I may need to rent a Uhaul.

Boo.

Jurassic World

This one isn’t finished yet, but I’m excited to see where it goes. This is completely drawn from scratch. I’ve never illustrated a dinosaur before, but I love velociraptors from the Jurassic movie series so I figure it’s a good place to start.

Shoutout to Owen from Jurassic World, played by the talented Chris Pratt, in Lego form currently on my desk (complete with motorcycle!)Dinosaur Rock Hopper Chase

Movies and God

We had a gorgeous shoot on behalf of Ratio Christi, a Christian apologetics ministry, and my sister, Anna Kitko, who is the new chapter director at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. Here’s a great shot of her beautiful face. I’ll be working on the edits as the week progresses.

Mountains and Waterfalls

Here is one of my favorite images from the hike this afternoon. It was a comfy 65 degrees and very sunny out in the Smoky Mountain National Park. When we got to the waterfall, we were the only ones who went off-trail and dipped our feet into the icy waters.

I’ll edit and upload many more, but so far this one is the one I’ll really cherish. Water spray was hitting my face and about ten zebra butterflies were dancing around off to my right near a tiny cave in the cliff face.

It was magical. Fav

On Holiday

I’m visiting my sister and her husband in Tennessee, and I have to say that I have absolutely fallen in love with the state. I’ll be heading to Nashville later in the week, but for now, at the foothills of the Smokys in Maryville, I couldn’t be happier. Here are some shots I took from the house just before the sun set.

God is good. Maybe I can find a job up here..?
