Concept Art “Parenthood”

While my camera is in the shop I figured I ought to keep up the productivity. I’ve finished chapter six of the novel and am about a third of the way through my sci-fi screenplay.

Here’s a sketch that I doodled and then transferred to canvas so that I could color it.

It’ll be for sale once I’m finished. Probably a fun piece to decorate a kids room with or an office if you’re a fan of Disney or Dreamworks animation.

I’ll be using acrylic on the canvas, and I have only color blocked the first layer, but here you go:

Visiting the Cousins

I had a delightful time visiting my Tennessee kin last week and grabbed a few shots when I could (when we weren’t watching little Emery…).

I’m relocating to Columbia, TN soon, and I have to say, I’m beyond excited about it. It’s like a light bulb turned on while I was there, and it felt like home–complete with cows.

My early childhood was spent in the upper Midwest, so it’ll be great to return to some soil that is actually made out of soil, rather than sand.

Evidently Miranda Lambert and Justin Timberlake won’t be too far away too. They say you run into a lot of really nice people in this part of the country.

I’m sure we’ll be best friends forever…

Anyway, I’ll keep up as much as I can. Must get packing though. I have to fit everything I own into my Corolla. I don’t think that will be terribly difficult, but my mom has a habit of sending me off with enough supplies to last several months, so I may need to rent a Uhaul.

Boo.

Jurassic World

This one isn’t finished yet, but I’m excited to see where it goes. This is completely drawn from scratch. I’ve never illustrated a dinosaur before, but I love velociraptors from the Jurassic movie series so I figure it’s a good place to start.

Shoutout to Owen from Jurassic World, played by the talented Chris Pratt, in Lego form currently on my desk (complete with motorcycle!)Dinosaur Rock Hopper Chase
