Here are some stills I took from the ballet thriller, Hush. Though I was working on three four other films (my own thesis being one of them) I spent every spare moment cracking away at the design of this one–because I genuinely loved every minute of the work.
I built most of the costumes myself (especially the ones in the ballet–featuring an actual German dirndl that I tailored to fit the lead actress) and every room that you see in the film was empty before I gave it life. From start to finish, my friend and the director, Whitney Clinkscales, gave me the freedom to let my imagination run free–and boy did I.
Inspired by art of Germany’s Black Forest folklore, the movie features elements of fantasy and heightened reality with woodland symbolism. I really poured my heart into this and I think that came through.
